Société des Ocres de France (SOF), founded in 1901, is the last company to mine and process ochre ore into pure ochre at its factory in Apt. A family-owned business spanning four generations, it continues the ochre industry thanks to its quarry located in Gargas, the last one still in operation in Europe. Since 2017, Société des Ocres de France has been awarded the EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant – Living Heritage Company) label, which recognises excellence in French craftsmanship. On this website, you will find around one hundred natural and synthetic pigments, ready-to-use products (limewashes, lime renders, Swedish paint kits, coloured plasters), additives, fillers, binders, tools, as well as a fine arts section and a bookshop.
