Ocres de France ready-to-use products : which one should you choose ?

You have chosen lime to decorate/renovate your interior or exterior walls and are wondering which of our ready-to-use products is best suited to your needs ? You have come to the right place. Here you will find a brief presentation of each of our ready-to-use limewashes and lime renders, their respective primers and a comparison to help you find the product you need.

Our limewashes : Badisof & Badisof Plus

Formulated and manufactured by us since 2005, here we present our ready-to-use limewashes Badisof and Badisof Plus, as well as their primers, Sofadher and Sofix. To find out everything you need to know about limewash, feel free to read our article Everything you need to know about limewash beforehand.

Badisof : charm, authenticity and soft nuances

Badisof is a ready-to-use air lime limewash, created and manufactured by our company since 2005. It is for interior use only and is applied with brush (in two coats), as shown in this video. It has a velvety, slightly textured appearance and allows you to create more or less pronounced nuances depending on the finish you want. It is available in 88 colours or in a natural version (untinted), which you can tint yourself with our pigments or leave as it is.

Le Badisof Plus : the 3-in-1 product that is as versatile as it is charming

Badisof Plus is also a ready-to-use air lime limewash, which we have been manufacturing for over 20 years. It can be used indoors and outdoors and can be applied with a brush or smoothed. With the brushed technique, it has a more textured appearance than Badisof. When smoothed (stucco), it creates a finish as smooth as plaster or polished concrete and reveals all its nuances. Badisof Plus is available in 55 colours or in a natural version, which can be left white or coloured with our pigments.

As with all limewashes, if the substrate on which Badisof/Badisof Plus is to be applied is not lime-based, we recommend applying a special lime primer beforehand. For an ultra-fine texture like Badisof, the ideal primer is Sofadher. Before applying Badisof Plus, we recommend Sofix.

Badisof, Badisof Plus, Sofadher and Sofix are film-forming, so they are not applied in thick layers and will follow the irregularities of your wall. They will therefore allow you to change the colour of your wall, but not to renovate it (fill holes, cracks, etc.). In addition, although Sofadher acts as a bonding primer between an unsuitable substrate and Badisof, it is not a porosity regulator. You should therefore be careful with patched areas and heterogeneous substrates, which may remain visible even after applying your primer and limewash. If this is your situation, there are three solutions :
* Re-render the entire wall with Rénodress (fine lime render), making sure to float it thoroughly to obtain the smoothest possible finish. Once finished, you can apply Badisof directly in two coats.
* Re-render the entire wall with a fine render of your choice. Apply Sofadher, then Badisof.
* Apply a coat of acrylic paint to your heterogeneous wall in order to seal the substrate and prevent differences from showing through. Then apply Sofadher, followed by Badisof.

Our renders : Sofodor et Sofolith

Sofodor : the fine interior/exterior render

Sofodor is a fine fat lime render, designed to create very fine floated or fine floated finishes. It is suitable for both interior and exterior use and is available in 46 colours. It is applied to a homogeneous substrate with no patched areas, prepared with lime, or after applying its primer, Rénodress. It is applied at a thickness of between 2 and 4 mm and is therefore not suitable for major façade renovation work.

Sofolith : the beautifully coloured exterior render

Sofolith is an exterior lime finishing render, available in 24 colours created using our pigments. It is applied over a lime base render (Tradichaux) or cement, at a thickness of 5 to 6 mm for a floated or fine floated finish. For a façade renovation, you can render your façade with 1 cm of Tradichaux, then apply a 5 mm Sofolith finish.

Please note :

* A colour shown in a photo, and even more so online with screens that are all calibrated differently, cannot be reproduced reliably. We strongly recommend ordering powder samples and testing them on your substrate before placing your final order. When preparing these samples, make sure to mix the entire contents thoroughly (otherwise there is a risk of colour differences).
* Custom colours may be possible. Contact us for more information.
* All our ready-to-use products are manufactured exclusively to order. Depending on demand at the time you place your order, preparation times may exceed 48 working hours.
