Badisof ("badi" for badigeon, meaning limewash, and "sof" for Société des Ocres de France) is a ready-to-use air limewash, created and manufactured by our company since 2005. For interior use only, it is applied with a brush in crosswise strokes, as shown in this video. It has a matt, velvety, very fine-grained and naturally nuanced finish. Variations in colour and texture are characteristic of limewash and depend in particular on the application technique, the substrate, the dilution and the light. Like all our products, Badisof is supplied in powder form, firstly to avoid the use of preservatives and secondly to avoid adding unnecessary weight, which inevitably increases transport costs. This also allows you to adjust the dilution to achieve a more or less fluid limewash.
Badisof is proof that a product made in France can have a simple, healthy composition while remaining affordable, without compromising on appearance.
As with all limewashes, if your substrate is not lime-based, we recommend applying a suitable primer beforehand. To achieve an ultra-fine finish like Badisof, the ideal primer is Sofadher. Like Badisof, Sofadher forms a thin coating: it is not applied in thick layers and will therefore follow the irregularities of your wall. It allows you to change the colour of your wall but will not even out the surface (fill holes, cracks, etc.). Furthermore, although Sofadher provides adhesion between an unsuitable substrate and Badisof, it does not regulate porosity. Care should therefore be taken with repairs and uneven substrates, as differences may become visible after the primer and limewash have been applied. If this is the case, there are three possible solutions:
* Recoat the entire wall with Rénodress (a fine lime-based render), which you can sand down to achieve the smoothest possible finish. Badisof can then be applied directly in two coats.
* Recoat the entire wall with a fine render of your choice. Apply Sofadher followed by Badisof.
* Apply a coat of acrylic paint to an uneven substrate to seal it and prevent differences from showing through. Then apply Sofadher followed by Badisof.
Badisof is intended for interior use only. It should not be applied to walls in direct contact with water.

* Badisof
* Water
* An empty container for mixing
* A limewash brush
* An eletric mixer

First coat : 1 volume of Badisof to 2 volumes of water (more fluid coat)*
Second coat : 1 volume of Badisof to 1 volume of water (thicker coat)*
For full instructions, download the technical data sheet from the "Attachments" tab.
* recommended standard dilution. Add the water gradually. You can reduce the amount of water to obtain a thicker limewash.
Badisof is applied with a brush, using crosswise strokes. Two coats (the first more diluted than the second) are required to achieve full coverage. We recommend watching our application video beforehand and downloading the technical data sheet available under the "Attachments" tab. We recommend applying Badisof at temperatures between 5°C and 30°C.
* 4 kg bucket: approximately 20 m² of wall (2 coats included)
* 8 kg bucket: approximately 40 m² of wall (2 coats included)
On a normally absorbent substrate.
Badisof is available in 88 colours. Please bear in mind that colours displayed on screen may differ from the actual result due to individual screen settings. We strongly recommend ordering samples before placing your final order.
Powder sample: 100 g of coloured Badisof to apply directly to your own substrate (the cost of the selected colour sample is refundable against your final order). Dilution: 1 volume of powder to 1 volume of water. Make sure to mix the entire contents thoroughly to avoid any colour variations.
Paper sample : Badisof applied to a 10 × 5 cm Canson-type paper sample.
You can also order Badisof in its natural (uncoloured) version and tint it yourself using our pigments. As lime is a white binder, the colour of the powder pigment will be considerably lighter once mixed into the Badisof (approximately half as intense). On each pigment product page, you will find an example of that pigment mixed into Badisof in our various pack sizes. Please note that we recommend not exceeding 20% natural pigment or 15% synthetic pigment (maximum saturation in Badisof).
Our ready-to-use products are made to order only. Depending on the volume of orders being processed at the time, preparation times may exceed 48 working hours. Please see our delivery policy.
Badisof can be stored for 12 months in its original packaging, protected from moisture. Once mixed with water, it should be applied.
