Ocre jaune foncé JFLES (Jaune Foncé Lavé Extra Supérieur) (= dark yellow ochre JFLES - Dark Yellow Washed Extra Superior) is our ochre star. It is extracted from ochre ore in our quarry at Gargas (Vaucluse). To recover it pure, it is necessary to follow a long process of extraction, separation, washing, settling, drying and grinding (for more information on the manufacture of ochre, clic HERE). It is also with ocre jaune JFLES (dark yellow ochre JFLES) that ocre rouge RFLES (red ochre RFLES) is made by calcinating it. Its color is luminous, soft.

Ocre rouge RFLES (= red ochre RFLES - dark red washed extra superior) results from the cooking of the ocre jaune JFLES (yellow ochre JFLES), extracted from our quarry in Gargas (Vaucluse). Rouge Vénitien (= red Venitian) is a colouring earth extracted in the region of Veneto (Verona). Known since Antiquity, it is sought after in the artistic and restoration fields.
This pigment is 100% natural.

Blanc Tiona (titanium dioxide) is a synthetic pigment. It is often used to lighten the color of another pigment, especially in the recipe of the flour paint (be careful, this pigment alone in the flour paint will not give a white color since the linseed oil will make the mixture yellow).

Linseed oil, appreciated for its siccativity, is the most used, as a grinding binder, to develop oil colors. It is also a necessary ingredient in the flour paint recipe.

Terre verte de Brentonico (= green earth from Brentonico) is used since Roman times. It is extracted in the region of Verona.

La sienne naturelle (= natural Sienna) is of very old use. Before, the Sienna earth came from Italy, near the city of Sienna. It is also found in the Ardennes, Cyprus, Germany, England, Mexico, southern China and India. Since 2017, our Sienna earth is not the same that it used to be before. Acrylic powder binder is a mixture of vinyl acetate and acrylic copolymer. It provides good adhesion, flexibility and water resistance to mortars containing hydraulic binders such as cement, gypsum or lime. It can be used for many applications (binder for artistic paintings, cementitious tile adhesive, thermal insulation system, flexible glue, repair mortar, etc).

Ocre Havane (= havane ochre) is the only orange hue of the ochres of Vaucluse. It is manufactured in Apt by Ocres de France.

L'ombre naturelle (= natural umber), produced by Ocres de France, is not in its natural state because it results from the mixture of several natural pigments. It remains nevertheless a flagship pigment of the range with a high resistance to UV and an indispensable shade in the decoration or patina of the stone.
